About Our ABA services

Starting in 2017, we have led the effort to provide Applied Behavior Analysis services to the Hawai'i population in need. We have invested in our staff by ensuring they receive the highest quality supervision, training, and support. In return, their expertise and motivation is reflected in our client's progress towards treatment goals.

Our program serves individuals with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and other disabilities. We work with the individuals and their families at home, in the school settings, and in the community. We create various social skills groups to ensure individuals are remaining in an inclusive environment.

Mau Loa Learning is committed to enhancing the lives of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families through individually designed programming, advocacy, and awareness efforts.

What is Autism? - Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability that affects an individual's ability to communicate (e.g., the ability to use language to express one's needs) and the ability to engage in social interaction (e.g., the ability to engage in joint attention). Additionally, the individual may have a restricted range of interests or repetitive behavior. Skill deficits and challenges associated with ASD will vary greatly from child to child. No two children with autism are the same. Each will have his/her own individual strengths and challenges associated with autism.

What is ABA? -ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis. ABA is an evidence-based approach to treating individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It is a science that uses its environment to change target behavior. Interventions are utilized to measure behavior and help individuals acquire socially significant behaviors. Research has shown that ABA therapy is one of the most effective treatments for individuals with ASD.

Leading the Way in the Successful Treatment of Autism

Behavior analysis is the science of behavior. ABA is the process of systematically applying interventions based upon the principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviors to a meaningful degree (Baer, Wolf & Risley, 1968/1987; Sulzer-Azaroff & Mayer, 1991).
